About Attorney Rick Poster

Rick Poster graduated from California State University San Bernardino with a Bachelors degree in Political Science. After graduating, Rick was an officer in the United States Army before he became an attorney in Phoenix, Arizona. As a former U.S. Army Officer, Rick served in the U.S. Army Reserve, on active duty, and with the National Guard. Rick’s leadership was recognized several times having been awarded an Army Achievement Medal, an Army Commendation Medal, and Best Infantry Leader on active duty. It was during this period of decorated service to our country that he made the decision to become an attorney. In the Army, Rick's patriotic character made him a defender of our country and its freedom. Now as an attorney he aggressively defends his clients' rights with the same vigor as he served in the military.

After serving in the military, Rick chose to attend the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Michigan, an excellent American Bar Association rated law school with a reputation of having an intense academic curriculum. Rick graduated having attained Deans List, several book awards (achieving the highest grade in the class), participation on the National Trial Team, and in Moot Court. While in school he worked for the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office for almost 3 years. It was well known that Rick won his position at the prosecutor's office even over upper classmates. Rick's superior academic achievement and experience provided him valuable insight into his unique qualifications and strengthened his ability to build a solid foundation for a superior career in criminal defense.

After law school and moving to Phoenix, Rick began working for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office where he worked in several divisions including research, pre-trial, bad check enforcement, information technology, vehicular crimes, juvenile, and charging. During the almost 5 years of service at the prosecutor’s office, Rick tried many felony cases were he was respected as a tough but fair prosecutor.

Since leaving the county attorney’s office, Rick has practiced in several areas of law, but now serves as one of Arizona's premier criminal defense attorneys. Rick Poster is now a Board Certified Specialist in Criminal Law by the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization, and a defense attorney that specializes in defending serious felonies and litigating complex criminal cases. Rick taught Criminal Law and related courses at Arizona State University West for 7 years, authored the Arizona DUI Trial Book and other publications, and has presented at DUI 14 and DUI 15 Seminars on DUI topics.

Rick was selected as a Star Search Super Lawyer in 2008, selected as one of Arizona's Finest Lawyers in 2011, and now awarded the 2011 Drug Charge Attorney Award.

Rick’s hobbies include computers, golf, and karate.
